THE WHYS
Have you ever wondered why so many people are left abandoned?
Meet Grace
WHY Jinga, Uganda? - Child abandonment is one of the biggest challenges Jinga, Uganda faces today!

A while back, Pastor Andrew (our Partner) had approached us for assistance in covering the hospital fees for a newborn that had been left and found in a latrine (open sewage). The infant was severely malnourished, dehydrated, and had open wounds. The wounds, in combination with being left in a latrine, had attracted many insects. Pastor Andrew sent a video to us of the newborn, we were shocked at the condition the newborn was left in (insects were entering and exiting her wounds). It was a sight that would make any person start to cry uncontrollably.

Several weeks later, Pastor Andrew sent an updated picture of this same baby. Her wounds had healed, her checks were full, she had flashed a vibrant smile at the camera; they had decided to name her “Grace.” This child went from total abandonment to healthy and full of life. As we all stared at her picture it became very clear, “This is why.” This is WHY, our ministry exists: to intervene on behalf of the “Grace’s” that are left behind for whatever reason, due to no fault of their own, and have little to no chance of surviving on their own.

Our kids come from all different walks of life. Sometimes both parents are deceased, and child(ren) are found roaming the streets, begging for food. Other times, children are left behind at places such as Pastor Andrew’s church, who will take them in and feed them because there may only be one parent living and they can’t afford to feed them. Then, there are times where the mother will convert to Christianity but, if she is married to a Muslim, is forced to abandon any children they had together. Lastly, some children are simply victims of horrendous abuse and decide to run away, as opposed to staying in their homes. Sadly, all these situations lead to the reasons as to how these wonderful, innocent children end up in our care.

It doesn’t matter what brings them to us. These children still want and deserve a chance at life. They are what drives our ministry forward.

WHY should you help?- Because these children and Home for Healing Hearts can’t do this alone –
